Finding find fare in Geraldine

On the hill above Geraldine lies Talbot Forest, one of the last remnants of a huge podocarp forest that once covered much of mid-Canterbury. A few kilometres northwest lies another remaining part, Peel Forest Park. Within its 700 hectares grow 68 of New Zealand’s 200 species of fern, including the silver tree fern.

Mount Cook by helicopter

I’m sitting in a helicopter that’s circling the Tasman Glacier. There’s low cloud over the mountains, but Mt Cook is peeping through the clouds, as it’s meant to do (Aoraki means “cloud piercer”).

Next minute, I’m standing on the glacier, sinking into soft snow up to my ankles, then my knees, then my thighs.

Robbie’s Fun Buses “The Scottish Patient”

Another oldie, but a favourite. It’s more intricate than it sounds, with a lot of different pieces of music put together to replicate the original movie’s sound and feel. Robbie, the client, does a good job in the starring role. I think it’s great, even better than The English Patient.
