Another fun ad for Mytax.co.nz.
The ads I make for Mytax.co.nz contain a degree of levity. Over time, this has really helped brand them and put them ahead of the pack. They work very well for my client because people like to deal with other people who have a sense of humour – and how could you make an ad about tax dry and boring? It just wouldn’t be right.

This is another ad for Mytax.co.nz. This is a straight voice over and it’s strength is in the script and production.
Quentin and Tanya do a fantastic job voicing their ads. I had the piece of signature music especially composed for my client and I think it works really well and is another component in helping their ads stand out.

This radio commercial is one from a recent series I’ve written and produced for Mytax.co.nz, using audio from phone calls informing customers about their tax refunds.
These ads have worked extremely well for my client and they sound wonderful on-air.

This is a tv ad for NZCU, audio produced by Windupbird. The sound was mixed and edited by Andy McBride at Digital Productions. Bruce Phillips, actor of stage, radio and screen, is the voice.
The agency we made it for is Tracta.

The Mytax.co.nz ads are voiced by two pals, Quentin and Tania.

I wrote “Groove” because I really wanted Quentin to say “Woop, woop” in a high, silly voice.

This ad was made while the 2011 Rugby World Cup was on in NZ. Obviously, there are very strict rules about what you can and can’t say about RWC. Basically, unless you’re an official sponsor, you can’t say anything. So the ad has a bit of a build up – to International Talk Like a Pirate Day which, happily, was around the same time.

I really enjoy writing and producing ads for Mytax.co.nz.

Some people may think tax is a rather dry subject for a radio ad, I beg to differ. This particular ad was inspired by real life – every afternoon I take our dog to the off-leash park. Piggy-back rides are at times part of the routine.

I wrote a series of commercials for Jenkin A-Lign – two 15 seconders and two 30′s.

Jenkin have a weather-tight timber cladding product and it’s been around for ages, 80 years I think (without checking).

The premise of the commercials is: “Stick to what you know”.

The character in the beginning is always being asked his opinion on clothes, perfume, physical appearance and so forth by his wife (or girlfriend). He always gives brutally honest (read: wrong) answers. Hence, stick to what you know.

This guy’s a carpenter and what he knows is timber. And he knows you can’t beat Jenkin A-Lign …
